Inspiring the Regenerative Farmers of Tomorrow

Almost 98% of the urban schools in Africa lack access to outdoor learning garden for practical agricultural training thereby denying the school-age children the opportunity to connect classroom learning to real world practical applications.

We are shifting how every new generation of African school-age children will perceive and practice agriculture.  Through fundraising and workshops we are helping to install free, edible, raised-bed learning-gardens in schools to essentially connect urban school-age children to the excitement of practical regenerative agriculture.  Through our fun-to-participate in programmes, we arm them with the knowledge, skills and attitude required to become soil health advocates and regenerative agriculture solutionaries.

School-Age Garden Curriculum

The world needs to produce young people who are adequately prepared well ahead of time to be loyal, respectful and protective of our soils.

Our school garden curriculum has been designed to offer a unique opportunity that provides children a comprehensive learning framework for regenerative gardening throughout the school year which will invariably produce net-positive impacts for society, health and ecology.

Ranging from seasonal garden activities to inquiry projects and STEM based activities, children will be guided to develop regenerative gardening solutions, a positive land ethic, systems thinking, and attitude for deep-rooted soil loyalty and respect.

Our Project-based Learning Model

Our project-based learning (PBL) is an educational design system inspired by the principles of experiential learning in which children apply their classroom learning  in an extended real-world, hands-on project.

All our typical projects begin with the opportunity to engage children with robust driving questions that essentially enable them to actively investigate solutions to complex garden problems.

We leverage collaborations and technology as primary tools for completing our projects.

Scholarship Opportunity

To help build capacity for quality service delivery at the site, we offer scholarship opportunities to all school-appointed garden coordinators working on our projects.

This training programme works to arm the coordinators with the requisite knowledge, skills, attitude and resources to implement, maintain and project the school garden project.

Children of Famers’ Initiatives

To promote the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices in Africa, our Children of Famers’ Initiatives has been thoughtfully designed to track down children of major traditional farmers to the schools where a mindset shift campaign will be organized for the benefit of the farmers’ children and the school at large. This is one of the ways Health of the Soil International is working to completely put degenerative agriculture paradigm out of sight or mind in Africa.
