About Urban Farming International

We are educating and helping city-dwelling families and individuals to harness and set up their urban backyard spaces, patios, rooftops, fence walls (and the like) as agricultural fields to be regeneratively farmed. 

Following the information available to us as Soil Health Advocates/Regenerative Agriculture Solutionaries, we feel concerned that worldwide urban population is expected to double in 30 years, but the number of urban poor is expected to increase at a greater rate which will be more burdensome for the African countries than the rest of the world. 

To this end, we are working assiduously to help urban-dwelling families and individuals in the urban areas to improve food security at household levels through rapid increases in food production and productivity by training and mentoring them on reducing year-to-year variability in food production on an economically and environmentally sustainable basis and by improving their access to food.

At Urban Farming International, we carry the burden for teaching the urban-dwelling folks about the cruciality of the return cycle of soil nutrients and the seamless way of engaging in it through the composting of urban food wastes.

Our Close the Nutrient Loop Programme was inspired by the overstretching of our landfills with food wastes and aims to compensate the exit of mineral elements that are necessary for plants, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and sulphur. We know that closing those cycles can improve self-sufficiency of urban farms.

Using our aesthetically designed and effective modular planters, we train and show the urban-dwelling folks who have soil-sealed their compounds the way to get around the problem so they can begin to enjoy food abundance and sovereignty from their available spaces.

We are particularly interested in collaborations for Regenerative Urban Syntropic Agroforestry Food System for the urban folks who can afford a 16ft X 16ft plot which gels with our revolutionary Permanent System Model being our seamless way of mimicking Nature’s operating systems, technologies and processes.

With our advanced knowledge of Syntropic Agroforestry System, we are working with interested urban families, individuals and organizations to tackle the food and nutrition security threat in the urban areas while seamlessly sequestering atmospheric carbon into the biosphere.

We run a 5-day experiential training course on the principles and practices of urban syntropic agroforestry course.

Essentially, through our training, educational programming, communication and mentorship program, we  help the urban folks to select appropriate crops, schedule production, improve harvesting techniques and reduce post-harvest losses, while ensuring that adequate attention is paid to food safety throughout the food chain.
